A 19-year-old was killed when the car he was riding in crashed into several parked vehicles and flipped over Saturday morning, Arlington County police said.

Police identified the victim as Nicholas Rados, 19. Online records show he graduated from Washington-Liberty High School this year.

The driver of the car, Brooks Bare, 18, was charged with DUI involuntary manslaughter and refusing to take a blood or breath test. He was being held in the Arlington County jail without bail over the weekend, police said.

First responders arrived at the crash site in the Tara-Leeway Heights neighborhood shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, finding that Bare was driving northbound on North Harrison Street when he struck several unoccupied vehicles parked along the side of the street. “As a result of the on-scene investigation, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash,” police said in a news release.

Bare had three other passengers aside from Rados, who were not seriously injured, police said. A police spokeswoman said the five people in the car knew one another but did not specify how. A relative of Bare’s did not respond to a request for comment Monday; relatives of Rados could not be reached.
